Go into the mind of the man who popularized sitting on a couch, and a psychiatrist listens to you, Sigmund Freud 📚

Six-Word 📚Book Summary: Look Often Deep Into Our Thoughts

When you stumble across a waterfall in Fiji, always be prepared with a book. These photos were taken during my second cruise contract on the Celebrity Solstice. I finished the autobiography “How To Think Like Sigmund Freud” by Daniel Smith. An unbiased look into his theories. Although much of his work is incomplete and sometimes wrong, he brought a fresh perspective to the field of psychology that has helped with the evolution of the area and currently benefits us. Thank you to Nicklas Remington Bajema for using your photography skills, taking the Fiji photos, and your excellent photography skills!

I became interested in learning more about Sigmund Fred when I happened to walk to where his museum and his old practice are in Vienna, Austria. I had the opportunity to see up close his desk and his original couch displayed in the museum. From this experience, I didn’t know much about who Sigmund Freud was, and after learning about him, he certainly helped draw my interest in psychology and learning more about how the mind operates and thinks.

My favorite quotes from the book How To Think Like Sigmund Freud

“Arguably no other notable figure in history was so fantastically wrong about nearly every important thing he had to say.” -Todd Dufresne.

While great swathes of his ideas have been discredited and debunked, he achieved great things in certain fundamentals. The detail of his model of the unconscious may be scientifically unsupportable, but he brought the role of the unconscious out into the light. His interpretation of dreams is not the full story, but he showed that our dreams could provide us with clues to our underlying mental processes… And without him, our understanding of the human psyche would likely be light years behind where it is now.” — Daniel Smith.

“They may abuse my doctrines by day, but I am sure they dream of them by night.” Sigmund Freud
